Long Leaf Park

This local favorite is east of downtown and has all types of sports courts: baseball, basketball, sand volleyball, an outdoor gym, and a 1.5 mile trail. They have a dog park, splash area for the kids, and a playground. You can rent their shelters out too.
Greenfield Park

Just north of downtown, within walking distance, is a 250 acre park with water access. They have live music year round and has been the site of some TV shows like One Tree Hill. They have a skatepark and boat rentals to take out on the water too.
Carolina Beach State Park

Down the coast about 15 miles is one of the many beautiful North Carolina state parks. They have 79 campsites and cabins available. There are also 9 hiking trails and the rangers offer educational excursions for free.
Ogden Park

Northeast of downtown Wilmington are 3 baseball fields, 9 tennis courts, and a full basketball court. There is a 10,00 square foot skatepark and a one mile walking trail.
Smith Creek Park

Directly north of downtown is this park with a water reserve in the middle. There you can rent kayaks and canoes. There is a 1.3 mile walking/running trail. The park is always kept clean so take the family and enjoy!!
Live Oak Commons

Southwest of town is this park on the Cape Fear River, this is the most interesting of the Wilmington parks. This incredible space houses yoga in the mornings, afternoon concerts, art shows, and farmers markets on the weekends. One can spend the whole day there.
